Places to look for your bike's key code:
On many model years the key code will stamped o
n your original key.
On 1960 to 1974 models (some 1975 and 1976) the code will
be stamped on the face of your ignition switch or lock.
On 1975 and up models, the key code will be s
tamped on the housing of the ignition switch or one of the locks, removal of the switch or lock will be necessary to find the code. You will find a 5 digit number on 1975 and 1976 models, that is the key code. On 1977 and up models, you will find a 6 digit number, the last 3 digits of that number is the key code.
The key code may have been stamped on a small metal or plastic tag that came with the original key set.
The key code may be (but not always) w
ritten in your owners manual or paperwork that came with your bike when it was purchased new.
